The Clam Shell Box
with Mita Saldana

Please RSVP to Mita if you are attending or you will not receive a kit.

Mita will be teaching us how to make a clamshell box. Clamshell boxes have historically been made to protect books, photos, and prints. The box we will make is just the right size to hold postcards. I will provide the pre-cut boards which we will assemble together at the meeting. Your preparation for the meeting will be to come with the paper and cloth cut to size to cover the boards. There will not be enough time to cut the paper and cloth during the meeting, so please prepare ahead of time. Please pay attention to the grain direction which is the underlined number in the measurements. The inside of the box, referred to as the inner and the outer trays, should be paper. Try not to pick very thick or stiff paper, Japanese yuzen is perfect for making boxes. The outside of the box, referred to as the case, will be covered with bookcloth. Hopefully the photo can help you see how the paper and cloth cover the boards. Mita does need an accurate head count for this so please email her if you are planning on attending. Check your email for more details and a supply list.

Bookbinding Basics + Getting Ready for the Clam Shell Box
with Mita Saldana and Kristine Olson

Scheduled program updated to a neat two-fer:
Mita will cover all those binding basics like: paper, book cloth, grain and PVA. You know, everything we need to know but some of us have been afraid to ask. Please bring the paper and book cloth you have for the box and bring your regular binding equipment. Mita will help us prepare and cover lots of the basics.

We will complete the clamshell box at a future meeting.

Infinity Book/Card x Two
with Jacques and Terry

Jacques and Terry will each be sharing their methods of creating infinity cards. An Infinity card is a card that you can open indefinitely. This type of card is sometimes also called a never ending card. The way you build it allows you to open it in very clever ways.

Check your email for details and a supply list, and RSVP to the presenters.
